So the little baby girl has finally made her arrival. Kamryn was born on Saturday Dec 5th at 11:40pm weighing in at 10lbs 4oz and 20 inches long. It all started at 2am on sat morning when my braxton hicks turned into contractions and were keeping me up through the rest of the night. They were bearable but definitely waking me up every hour or so. I finally had to wake up and start timing them at 9am. For an hour they were 3-5 minutes apart and lasting about 1 minute long pretty much a very good sign that it must be coming along pretty good, right? Well the contractions started getting more intense but also I had horrible back labor so we finally decided to head to the hospital at 2pm. They checked me and I was only 2-3 cm! On top of that horrible news was that all the rooms were taken and I would have to just wait it out in the exam room and go through my contractions. I was also really dehydrated so it took 4 nurses and 12 sticks to finally get my IV to stay.

At 7pm 5 hours later of really uncomfortable contractions the nurse came in to let me know the good news that a room was available.

We headed to our beautiful room and they checked me I was still only at 3 cm so I decided to throw away the idea of doing this all natural and go with the epidural. The anesthesiologist came in and did his magic and it worked beautifully. I have never felt better and I loved when everyone was saying, "oh wow your having a huge contraction right now!" and I wouldn't feel a thing.

Family started coming in and hanging out, the nurse came in to give an estimated time of when I would probable be delivering. They guessed around 4am so they suggested that Sam and I start resting for that so we could have the energy. Around 9:45pm or so the family saw how tired we were and decided it was going to be a long night so they headed out to go get food and stay at home for a little bit. Before they left I started to feel some pressure. I was shocked since it hadn't been very long but I told Sam to get the nurse to check me real quick just in case. She came and said I was only 5cm but the baby's head was already to go and at a +1 almost +2 station. With this information she said that the baby is just waiting for my body to dilate. We tried to rest and wait it out but about 10:40pm I was really feeling the pressure and it just became unbearable to hold the urge to push. I told Sam to grab the nurse immediately and she came to check, I was 8cm. We called the family and told them to hurry back that it was show time. My midwife had also left for home and had to turn back around. So with my midwife trying to get back to deliver I had to go through contractions and that immense urge to push for about 30-40 mins. I tried to hold the pushes but my body just started doing its own thing and by the time the midwife finally arrived the baby was already crowning. I pushed for 20-30 mins and she popped right out at 11:40pm.

They put her on my chest and started to do the stimulating of trying to make her cry but she wasn't doing it so they whisked her off to try and get her to cry. She cried a little bit but they noticed that her blood sugar was extremly low and because I pushed her out so fast she didn't get all the fluid out so her breathing was extremely fast. While the midwife assessed the damage to me she said I had a 4th degree tear, I was torn from end to end in every layer so the doctor had to come in and stitch me up. It only takes them 45 minutes to stitch up C-sections and it took them an hour and half that's how big of a tear that "little" girl did to me but it was all worth it. After I was all fixed up the nurses let us be with our baby and took us to our recovery room.

At 7am Sunday morning the nurses decided that she needed to go to the NICU for 48 hour observations because of her respiratory rate being in the 80's when it should be 20-30 and because of me being Strep B + and I also had a fever of 100.4 right before I pushed her out. They just wanted to make sure everything would be ok and come back normal.

It was definitely rough but long story short we had to come home without our baby, worst feeling in the world we both couldn't stop crying everytime we mentioned her name or anything about her. The next morning on Tues Dec 8th we were able to take her home, she was stabilizing her breathing and all her blood work came back normal.

That was the best feeling in the world and we felt like we were on cloud 9. The birth of Kamryn after trying for so long has brought me and Sam so close and I just seeing him with her, holding, soothing, and talking with her. She is so precious to us and I had that instant overwhelming love. I thank the Lord that all went well given the circumstances and we now have a beautiful baby girl!! We love you Kamryn.
